Veterans and Serving Members Coffee Break Events

The Royal Canadian Legion Beaverbrook Branch 316 in Waubaushene will be hosting a Veterans and Serving Members Coffee Break

Providing a place to meet and greet each other, talk, renew old friendships, check on a buddy you haven't seen in a while or just come and be part of the group.  Legion membership is not required. 

CF Members, Reservists and Retired Veterans of the Canadian and Allied Navy, Army and Air Forces.

When: Tuesday, September 3, 2024

Time:  10:00 to 14:00 hr.

Bring what you are working on and maybe get help from new friends. Knit, crochet, embroidery, mending, if you can bring it and want to share it, stop by and do one more row together. You could also swap yarn and patterns! Casual, drop-in. Every Wednesday at 3 PM in the Victoria Harbour Branch.

Fall Classic Golf Tournament Events

8:30 AM| Brooklea Golf & Country Club

2nd Annual Ken Price Memorial Fall Classic Golf Tournament.  

When: September 7th, 2024 

Where: Brooklea Golf & Country Club  

Cost: $45 per player 

It will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start! Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. We only have space for 18 golf teams or 72 players. You are required to pay for the tournament at the bar when you sign up. Your registration includes 9 holes of golf with a cart and burger back at the Branch. The deadline for sign-up is August 24th.

Poison Pie, Other Fungi & Parasitic Plants Events

Black Witch's Butter? Devil's Urn? Deadly Galerina and Poison Pie?

From Ghost Pipes to  Birds Nest Fungi and Wolf's Milk, you never know what you will see when walking the trails at Wye Marsh!

Join us for a fascinating 2 hour workshop, shining the spotlight on deadly sac fungi, jelly fungi, gilled mushrooms, slime molds and parasitic plants growing at Wye Marsh. Learn about their ecological roles, and the incredible communication networks they form. Enjoy a guided tour and make your own "spore print" to take home!

Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre

When: Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm

How much: $25.00 per person + HST

Who: Ages 10 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult

What to bring: Sturdy footwear, layered clothing, camera, binoculars & field guides can be helpful. This experience will be entirely outdoors, please dress for the weather!

Canada Parks Presentation: Norman Bethune Events

Bethune dedicated his life to serving others, his many acts demonstrated his personal courage, compassion, and selflessness. This presentation will bring to life Bethune’s action packed existence, seeking to inspire youth to understand these values, be compassionate for others as Bethune was, and to learn more about this famous Canadian’s historical interaction with the world. Stories of his medical achievements at the front lines during significant wars and their lasting effects on modern medicine breathes life into Dr. Norman Bethune legacy.
